As a textile artist, having a well-organized space for your materials is crucial. Here, I’ll share my journey of converting an unused upstairs storage room into an efficient fabric storage closet, tailored to meet my needs as a textile artist.
Maximizing Vertical Fabric Storage

A Small Work Surface
By adding this small work table within the fabric storage closet, I’ve created a convenient area to lay out and cut fabrics, eliminating the hassle of carrying large bolts of fabric back and forth between my studio and the closet, saving time and effort.

Small bins, a bank of drawers for ongoing projects and a ladder for easy access to higher shelves, complete this fabric storage closet.
Conclusion
Transforming an upstairs storage room into a fabric storage closet has been a rewarding project.
